This process involves our tree surgeons cutting a wedge into the tree's trunk, which will determine the direction it will fall. The wedge acts like a hinge, controlling the process so the tree falls without causing damage or injury. Directional felling is an efficient tree removal method for disposing of sick, unwanted, or dangerously positioned trees.
However, the process is unsuitable for certain trees, such as those with unstable root systems or severe decay. There must also be plenty of surrounding space for the tree to fall.
If space is limited or the tree is located near power lines or buildings, the Prunus Tree Care & Landscape Services team uses this alternative method. Sectional felling involves the dismantling of a tree, piece by piece. As trained tree surgeons, we use harnesses and rigging equipment to disassemble the tree in sections from the top down, stripping branches and limbs before cutting into the trunk.
Although this method will take longer, it is more advisable to proceed with sectional felling where safety and surrounding structural integrity are vital.
